Podere Helena Tuscan farmhouse rental near Certaldo, Fiano Tuscany is an old Tuscan farmhouse on 69 acres of a working olive farm, strategically located between Florence and Siena in the county of Certaldo, Tuscany. We have represented Novellina for years and years, and the owner is always renovating, repainting and refurnishing her place. Making this rental fresh for the guests - always improving. Podere Helena is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and cypress trees on a landscape molded by centuries of farmers' patient toil and which now produces an excellent extra virgin olive oil (which you can purchase on the farm). It is situated in a private location with wonderful panoramic vistas - especially from the al fresco area outside. The detached house covers 300 square meters and can accomodate 9 adults. Podere Helena is comfortably furnished with original antiques. Providing a refreshing dip during those summer months is a swimming pool with accompanying BBQ and comfortable lawn furniture. A second house, where the owner lives is located 15 meters away.

The Details:
Ground Floor: Entrance/fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, dishwasher, table that seats 10 and an old wood oven. There is a loggia that leads out to the garden. There is one double bedroom with 1 ensuite bathroom (tub). There are 3 steps to access the bedroom. There is also a half bathroom (also called a WC, with a toilet and sink only). This floor also has a TV room.
First Floor: There is another double bedroom on this level with a ensuite bathroom (tub and separate shower) , a twin bedded room, a single bedroom, a bathroom (shower) shared between the twin bedroom and single bedroom), and a large living room with a huge fireplace and access to the loggia.
Second Floor: 1 double bedroom room with ensuite bathroom (shower).
PLEASE NOTE:
The kitchen, the TV room and the yellow bedroom, although at the ground floor are not on the same level. Guests with walking difficulties have to know that although they can access the yellow bedroom and the kitchen from the exterior (avoiding the internal steps ), the rest of the floor has short flights of stairs throughout. The access to the last floor bedroom is 20 cm lower than usual so watch your head going up to this bedroom!! The beds in the twin bedroom, cannot be joined: they sit against opposite walls with a doorway in between. The pool although nicely set, is an above ground pool not suitable to people with weight or height above the average.

Arrive & Relax Package provided: Welcome dinner prepared (pasta, vegetable tarte, salad, fruit salad, bread, water and wine - no menu change possible) and basic first day stocking (milk, cafe, tea, bread, biscuits, sugar, salt, water, fruit, eggs, oil, butter, jam, orange juice, cereals. No additional items possible, and items subject to availability. Sorry no pets.
*Reservations are always Saturday to Saturday, except for the lowest season when it is flexible. Rates are current and based on when the majority of the week is within the price range stated above. All of our rentals include linens and towels. One set per reservation unless otherwise stated. Request for change/cleaning may incur a charge.

Certaldo is just one of central Tuscany's ancient towns. Although the town has spread some, the old town makes for a good walk about with a number of restaurants to pick from. The town as a whole is picturesque, surrounded by vineyards. The older section, known as Certaldo Alto, lies on a hill 426 feet above sea-level. From there, one can see the marvelous towers of San Gimignano in the distance (about 10 km). The town hosts several festivals a year. The largest and most famous is Mercantia, a week-long party in Certaldo Alto with street performers from across Italy, Europe and even the Americas. Nearby Fiano has a couple restaurants that are convenient, if not noteworthy and an alimentari for the small stuff you need. Florence and Siena are of equal distance, north and south making this a convenient, restful place.
