Casa del Lago Located in Lesa, Lake Maggiore, Piemonte, Italy. This is a sweet Maggiore lake shore Italian cottage rental located on the shore of Maggiore. Scenic, private, intimate and ultimately memorable. Because it is within a large gated community, the shore road is not seen, nor heard. Which as many know, the stadale road that rings all the lakes in Italy means you have your house either on the lake side of the road (and the road directly behind you) or behind the road. This one is right on the water and the road more than 500 meters away. Casa del Lago has its own mooring and small pebble beach where you can wade into the water. It is a charming L-shaped villa with two wings connected by a common courtyard. One wing is for rental and in the other live the owner (a friendly nice lady). Spacious and manicured garden that leads to the lake and the private mooring, lake access, sat TV, partially air conditioned (master bedrooom only), garden equipment. A well behaved dog is welcome. Peace and privacy prevails.

One double bedroom with independent access from the garden and ensuite bathroom. This bedroom is connected to the rest of the house through the passage of a single bedroom. Adjacent to the single bedroom is a 2-part bathroom with old-fashioned marble tub and separate modern shower. At the same floor there is a sitting room with billiard table, television (sat), fireplace and large arched French doors leading to the garden and a dining area and eat-in-kitchen with direct access to the garden. Overlooking the single bedroom from a lofted area is the master bedroom with air-conditioning unit On this upper level is a second, smaller and more simply furnished single bedroom appropriate for a child under 10. Tastefully and carefully decorated, La Casa del lago offers a romantic holiday on the shore of the lake.

Maggiore straddles the Lombardy-Piemonte border and reaches into southern Switzerland providing a new dimension to travel while staying on the lake, and in the region. MaggioreÕs development as a holiday destination began in 1800 when the Simplon road from Genova to Milano skirted its shores. Making the lake a natural resting spot. Maggiore is unique unto itself as it has a more peaceful and subdued demeanor. It is neither as resort-like as Garda, nor does it have the mountain views of Como or the petite ambience of Orta. But Maggiore has the advantage of easy access to the ring road that connects to Switzerland, and the Autostrada which rubs north/south. Two castles that occupy small islands off-shore deserve closer inspection: Somma Lombardo hosts one at the southern end of Lago Maggiore and Angera on the eastern shore hosts a 13th century castle that is still in the hands of the original Borromeo family whom "owned" the southern half of Maggiore during older times. From Maggiore you can drive over to Lake Orta through a low mountain pass in about 45 minutes. It makes for a nice day trip and Orta is one sweet lake. Malpensa is about 45 minutes from mid lake as well.
Casa del Lago is in a particularly prime location for touring the northern reaches of Italy: Switzerland is to the north, the Swiss towns of Bellinzona and Locarno can be reached by hovercraft in 90 minutes, the scenic islands of Madre, Bella and Isola dei Pescatori are reachable by ferry service from Stresa (6 kilometers north) and there is golf, tennis and horseback riding 30 minutes away. Trains from Arona (south of the rental) are 10 minutes away connecting you to all major train stations.
There is a pedestrian route behind the house that offers a panoramic view of Lake Maggiore and that leads (5 min.) to the nearby town of Lesa. There you can find grocery shops and restaurants and there is also the possibility to order and take out delicious meals at the nearby Rapanello Restaurant in Lesa
