Da Contessa Assisi, Assisi vacation rental in Assisi. This luxury apartment rental in Assisi provides you an affordable price vacation rental that sits in the heart of one of Italy's most revered religious and cultural sites: Assisi. Best yet, besides the affordable luxury found with this rental, as a city rental it has a garden and a pool too! Imagine that - a garden and a pool in the middle of Assisi. Pinch me I must be dreaming. And you need not a car to get to this little slice of Franciscan heaven either. You can walk to markets, restaurants, cafe bars and shops. Also within walking distance are all of the important works of art that Assisi has to offer.
Your next rental (this one) is situated in the heart of Assisi at the first floor of a noble Palazzo dating back to 17th century, in front of the majestic Cathedral of San Rufino, The Palazzo, among the most beautiful in Assisi, has a facade completely made of stone, vault ceilings and ancient stairs It has been completely restored with excellent finish and care. The owners are direct descendants of Countess Giulia Cileni Nepis, belonging to one of the ancient families of Assisi history. In the Palazzo there are 5 units all belonging to the family, three of them are for holiday rentals - in the fourth one lives one of the owners. The fifth (that's where we enter this ancient scene) is the apartment of the other owner who lives in Milan.
Perfect for: couples, families, priests.
The Details:
First floor walk up: Once you have entered the apartment, you are in the large yellow hall giving access to a double bedroom with view of the cathedral and adjoining bathroom (shower). There is a dining room with a table for 8 and two living rooms with fireplace (ornamental only) and a beautiful balcony where you can enjoy a great view of the sculptured facade of the cathedral - (For insurance reasons we kindly ask the guests not to light on the fireplace). There is a second double bedroom with adjoining bathroom (tub). An other double bedroom, a separate bathroom (with shower). A large fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, oven...) giving access to the additional dining room with stone walls. Once you have accessed the courtyard from the kitchen and followed the private little path inside the Palazzo (just a few meters), you get into the rose garden. The real treat is the rose garden with outdoor furniture for lounging where the family and the guests of the Palazzo can rest as if in the countryside, but with the view of the Rocca Maggiore. Assisi is a must-see destination not only for the figures of Saint Francis (1182-1226) and Saint Claire (1193-1253) who continue to fascinate for the freshness of their message; but also for its marvellous Basilicas, enriched by the works of the greatest Italian painters as Giotto, Cimabue, Simone Martini, and Lorenzetti. Assisi's typical medieval urban structure; as well as the surrounding beautiful countryside offer many artistic and gastronomic itineraries to your unforgettable holiday. UNESCO collectively designated the major monuments and most all of Assisi as a World Heritage Site. Some festivals include the Festival Calendimaggio, May 1st-5th: re-enactment of medieval and renaissance life in the form of a challenge between the upper faction and the lower faction of the town. With processions, theatrical presentations, flag-weavers and dance. Today the town has many groups coming to enjoy the simple peace of St. Francis. One such group has restored an 11th century room and added altars to the world's religions. Pilgrims come from many countries to the Assisi East West Retreat Center in Piazza San Rufino in the spirit of St. Francis to sit and be in peace. Assisi Embroidery is a form of counted-thread embroidery which has been practised in Assisi since the 13th century.
